This page explains jargon used in Phase 6 for SAP beginners and project teams. In short, it translates configuration terminology into plain English so anyone can understand what the system is talking about. It matters because technical terms can block understanding, slow down workshops, and create confusion between teams. Use this glossary whenever a word feels unclear and avoid assuming everyone knows SAP vocabulary.

Term Plain English Explanation
Company Code A digital version of a legal company that keeps its own books inside SAP. Think of it as a company’s profile in the system.
Document Type A label that tells SAP what kind of document you are creating, such as a return, a purchase, or a subcontracting order. Each one behaves differently.
Goods Issue When stock leaves the warehouse and SAP marks it as gone.
Goods Receipt When stock arrives and SAP marks it as received.
Material Group A category for grouping similar items together. Like putting all tools in one drawer and all cleaning supplies in another.
Movement Type A code that tells SAP what kind of stock movement is happening. Similar to telling a librarian whether you are borrowing or returning a book.
Plant A physical location such as a warehouse or factory. Think of it like a building on a school campus.
Purchasing Group A person or small team responsible for buying things for the company.
Purchasing Organisation The official department allowed to buy things for the company.
Standard Purchasing Organisation The default buying department assigned to a specific warehouse or location.
Subcontracting When you send materials to a supplier so they can finish or assemble something for you. Like sending ingredients to a bakery that bakes the cake for you.
Valuation How SAP keeps track of what materials are worth. Like the price tag the system uses for accounting.
Vendor (Supplier) The company you buy items from.
Vendor Return Sending something back to the supplier because it is wrong, faulty, or no longer needed.
